Strangers
I told this woman I would watch her things
But the firemen are creeping down my hose
And I'm fighting to not let them escape
Restrain, restrain
Pushing them back up to my stomach, but then -
Ahh, the slow tinkle of delight
Release
Just kidding. I'm still waiting for her to get back and I haven't peed.
If her supplies were my mother's -
I would leave it.
Why must I feel so loyal
To those who don't know my name?

Beautiful and Strange
Tall, vibrant, her energy filled the classroom
She wanted so badly to learn
Poor thing
Surrounded by us lethargic, drooling apes
Her speech was precise
I could hardly hear an accent
It made me hate her
Because I do not love it here
Like she does
I hate Spanish because it is strange
Everything about her
Was screaming rolled "r"s and "ñ"s
She wanted so badly to learn
Poor thing
Surrounded by us lethargic, drooling apes
Her speech was precise
I could hardly hear an accent
It made me hate her
Because I do not love it here
Like she does
I hate Spanish because it is strange
Everything about her
Was screaming rolled "r"s and "ñ"s
These Moments That Depict My Life
It was a comfortable room
Except for the blaring "EXIT" sign above the door
I felt it glaring at me
Intimidating
"WHY THE HEL ARE YOU STILL HERE" it demanded.
So I picked up my books
And left.
I told
myself
I was too good
for that EXIT sign
And I scurried quickly
through the space
beneath it.

That woman passed this window
Straw jammed in mouth, frightened eyes spinning about
As if she were suspicious of what was inside
She looked like a "Chardonnay"
The wine's classy aftertaste
Mixed with American fries and ketchup
Oh, America...
(That's her daughter)
From 500 meters away,
I can hear her straw as it tumbles
Empty
Across the pavement
Straw jammed in mouth, frightened eyes spinning about
As if she were suspicious of what was inside
She looked like a "Chardonnay"

Dois Dias em 45 Minutos
Two days in 45 minutes
And the slow drawl of this lagging music is overwhelming
Really, she's all I can think about
A jealous monster behind those barking chocolates
she calls eyeballs
Hell.
Throw this in the rage pile.

Flushing the Immediate Extremes of Saudade
Nervous chickens scamper through my veins
Clucking
A jip jip jabber from the inside out
Their beaks puncturing those pores
That I had labelled
As expression's exits
And now, with the frenzied Samba in my heart
This irregular drumming
I gulp and it is only another instrument
Speechless, yearning to yell but I can only speak
In thumping feet, flashes of sequence, carnaval, the clap clap clapping of my grandfather's hands against his violão's hourglass figure
And there is silence
The day breaks over the ocean breeze and I am back
Exfoliating my soul in the salty breath of the sea
Naked feet brushing against the sand's comfortable scratch
In step with the Earth's rhythm beneath them
Through the tide's thin film
Cautiously
Ten toes against ten million grains
The ocean's energy pulsing swiftly through each nerve ending
Building, building
Unitl it explodes, feeling colors, seeing music, running art
And the Maracatú continues
Bouncing through the street
With their eyes so gently closed
As if pulling a cloud
Over an infant's dreaming body
Energy's lullaby in the fading dusk
In the blink of an eye -
This is Brazil
